Jim joined Blue Ridge Realty & Investments in 2016 and has been an active broker for more than a decade.  He is a High Country native and currently lives in Boone. He previously co-owned a small boutique firm in Todd which offered sales and vacation rental management. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and spent more than a decade working as a community journalist in the state before returning to the mountains.

Jim enjoys helping buyers and sellers and using his skills to help them realize their real estate goals. His mantra is “no surprises” and believes people can make better decisions when they have more information. Today, Jim’s business is mainly focused in the greater Boone-Blowing Rock area but he is familiar with all of the High Country.  He has extensive real estate experience in Todd, where he grew up and in Ashe County where he was previously broker-in-charge of BRRI’s West Jefferson office for several years.

He serves on the High Country Association of REALTORS Board of Directors and is the 2021 President-elect. He is also currently a Trustee for the North Carolina REALTORS Political Action Committee.  Jim was previously active in the Todd community’s renewal efforts and is a past president of the Todd Community Preservation Organization. He is also a former board member for the Museum of Ashe County History in Jefferson.

Jim and his wife Lainey live in Boone with their two dogs, Rufus and Puddin’. He enjoys gardening, cooking, Carolina basketball and football. Jim and Lainey take special delight in creating elaborate outdoor Halloween and Christmas displays.
